Santa has arrived in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in New York City, the mercury is starting to drop and the Big Apple has been besieged once again by yet another endless week of NASCAR drivers, PR reps and writers who would rather be anywhere else than to listen to another acceptance speech.Yep, it's that time of the year again: NASCAR's finest are in New York City for Friday night's annual
And yes, for the third time in as many years, Jimmie Johnson will be the man getting many of accolades -- staying in the Waldorf-Astoria's Presidential Suite, getting award after award after award, and, finally, seeing that really fat check after his acceptance speech -- after taking the 2008 Sprint Cup crown.
It's an interesting night because NASCAR's best are in a setting that isn't exactly similar to anything they do day and day out, and that always provides some interesting gaffes.
So come on out and join the FanHouse as we live blog the official end of the NASCAR season tonight at 9pm/ET as the ceremonies get underway on ESPN Classic! Get your email reminder below and come on back later!

Nascar did it again. Blocked out a whole bunch of fans by putting the awards show on a channel most of us don't get. I guess just another sign that we the fans don't matter anymore. Goodbye NASCAR

I had a BLAST in NYC for this event. Every Nascar fan and their cousin was there as they shut down the street. We loved how the women of NASCAR were reacting to our designer cut NASCAR Tshirts and want everyone to know we still have some available for xmas.

I was very dissapointed not to have been able to see the awards ceremony as Nascar put it on ESPNC and I was not able to get it. What is wrong with Nascar. DO they not care about the fans anymore. If it was not for the fans there would not be a Nascar. That was a dumb move.

For some reason I thought there were 12 Chase drivers. Yet only 10 were honored. Way togo Nascar, since #12 is your most popular driver and probably the reason fans shell out big bucks togo to races. But putting it on ESPNC really was an insult.

Yes, there are twelve drivers in the chase but only the top ten go to the awards banquet every year. Yes, Jr did not make it to the awards banquet, again. But he did not earn the right to do so either. As a competitor I am quite certain he would rather earn the right to be there instead if just having it given to him as some of his fans would like.
In fact, I am also certain he would trade all the MVP awards in if it meant he EARNED the right to be called CHAMPION.
But Jr needs to work on his performance at the end of the season if that is to happen. Last year he went from 13th to 16th place in the last 10 races while going from 4th to 12th this year. That is going to have to change if he is going to win a championship. His team is going to have to take a lesson from JJ and the 48 team. First, make th chase, then, win most of the races. It really is that simple.

I must agree with the above sentiments of others. As a huge Jimmie Johnson fan and his self-proclaimed number one fan, I too thought that with such a historic win/event, NASCAR would have at least had the decency to air the awards ceremony on a channel that most of us could watch. Apparently, I was wrong and was highly disappointed as many others were. Shame on you, NASCAR but still a huge congratulations to Jimmie Johnson and team!

I agree with Mike, as a huge Jr fan, he didn't earn the right and I also agree that he wouldn't want to be there if he didn't earn that right. I just hope his team does better for him this year. Especially Tony, he needs to figure out how to help Jr win. Shame on NASCAR, we are fans and they need to honor us too by allowing us to view the ceremony on TV, without us they wouldn't exist! Congratulations to JJ and his team!
