There's a myriad of adjectives one could use to describe Tony Stewart's decade-long stint with Joe Gibbs Racing, ranging from controversial to impressive. One thing is for sure though: Tony Stewart helped make JGR a tangible force in the NASCAR world.
Joining with 2000 Sprint Cup champion Bobby Labonte for his first full season in NASCAR's top series in 1999, Stewart came to NASCAR lacking heavy amounts of stock car experience, nor a win in the Nationwide or Craftsman Truck Series.
He would go on to win three races in his rookie season and has totaled 30 more since that time, in addition to two season championships. Currently, Stewart is the only driver to have won championships in both the Chase forthe Sprint Cup format and the original season-long format.
Obviously, Stewart's had quite an impressive run at JGR and it'll certainly be interesting to watch as he gets Stewart-Haas Racing up and running for 2009 with Ryan Newman. In the mean time, though, let's take a look back at some of the fun we've had talking about Stewart here at FanHouse in past year or two.
Stewart Loves Schlitz, Hates Busch - A Rolling Stone profile on Stewart shows the scruffy side of Smoke.
Stewart Out $10,000 After USAC Incident - Smoke was fined for an altercation he had with a USAC official in July at O'Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis
Back Hair a Goner for Stewart - Only in NASCAR can a driver raise money for charity by shaving his back hair.
Bad, Bad Goodyear - This is a video of Stewart voicing his, uh, love for Goodyear racing tires.
The Kurt Busch-Tony Stewart Love Continues - Just in time for the start of the 2008 season, Smoke allegedly punched Kurt Busch. We'll leave the justification up to you.
Barrett-Jackson Sells Stewart's No. 20 - Another video post on Tony Stewart auctioning off his No. 20 for $300k -- and it all went to charity.

Tony Stewart will own the track in 09.
He finally wont have to drive a number 2 or 3 Gibbs car like this year.
Kinda how Gordon and Ernhardt got punked by Jimmy Johnson.
Watch out for Stewart Haas Racing because he is going to come in with a bang.......and go out with the championship
Back to driving chevy..........
Now if Goodyear can make a car that can keep up with Tony.
Went to the Brickyard this last year and it was a total waste of money.
Goodyear will be on the bubble this year.

Cars today.. Ford..Chevy? Not like the old days when cars were cars.
Today they are million dollars machines. The Ford, Chevy, Dodge still have the logo, but don't mean crap.

I cannot wait til 2009, Go Tony, This year was a waste. It seemed to me that Tony's heart wasn't in it this year. He was in the wrong car. I just wish Jr. was with him too.
They would be the team to beat. The best of luck to Tony and Ryan
No.# 14 is my number now......

I predict that Tony Stewart has won his last race. Stewart new team will not win a race. After his first year he will be lucky to have one car in NASCAR. Then after that unless he switches to Ford he will be out of bussiness.Office Depot made a big mistake swtching from Carl Edwards to Tony Stewart they will never have the T.V. time like they had when they were with Carl. Ford will be the new domant Manufacter in NASCAR they had 8 full time teams last year with Chevys 16 teams they tied for the amount wins 11 each. But the precentage versus the amount of teams tells the real truth.

My money in 09 is on "Smoke". I predicted that when JGR went to Toyota (although with the money certainly being a giant consideration and Waltrips flop I understand) that somehow Tony would get back to GM soon. I never thought that he would start his own team but I was sure he would change. I am glad to see him making this move and I hope that he can get back to his winning ways. And as far as all that family crap that JGR was trying to sell a Nascar fan that dates back to the very beginning, I just never bought it. Sure it looks good for the press and all but Tony is a winner and I hope he does it in American Chevrolet's. See you in the winners circle Tony!!!
