Are you in the market for gently-used NASCAR Sprint Cup driver motorhome used for at-the-track lodging, Nintendo Wii-fests during rain delays, and a hiding spot from the media or other angry drivers?Well, Denny Hamlin is the man you need to talk to.
Hamlin donated such a motor home to Motor Racing Outreach -- the organization that is at the track every weekend providing church services and other help to the NASCAR community -- this week after hearing they were in need of such a vehicle.
"MRO has been a friend to the drivers, teams and everyone affiliated with the sport for a long time so I was really happy to be able to help them out. It seems like everyone in the garage supports MRO in one way or another and they deserve the recognition," Hamlin said.Don't expect Hamlin to be staying at the local Super 8, though, when NASCAR is in town.
"By donating my motor home to them I hope it will save them some money in lodging and I think it will really give them the opportunity to do more and more within in the sport. I know we'll all benefit from that - and I am proud to support their efforts."
I would imagine that this donation comes with Hamlin getting his new set of luxurious wheels for his own personal use (it even comes with that Aerosmith Guitar Hero edition!), but even so, a donation like that is a sizable one because I doubt Hamlin's used RV is in that bad of shape.
It's certainly a nice gesture, but its not the first item Hamlin is getting rid of in 2008.
Note: There's no word if Hamlin's RV comes with the pink flamingos or kiddie pool.

Seeing this move by Hamlin inspired me to donate my used Hummer to the local church. I'm sure they will be glad to get it to use in transporting people to and from services. I'll get a nice tax break, and lets face it, with gas prices and the economy like it is, there isn't a very big market for gas hogs right now of any kind. So thanks Denny for opening my eyes to the best way solve a problem and get some good press too. Works for me.....
