Kevin Harvick was on a mission during the closing laps of Sunday's Toyota/Save Mart 350k at Infineon Raceway. Simply, the Richard Childress Racing driver wanted to gain as many spots as possible before the checkers waved.
With that in mind, Harvick was passing David Gilliland coming in to turn 7 and forgot about the brake pedal -- until it was too late. Watch below at 0:45.
The casualties from the move included Tony Stewart, Jamie McMurray and Ron Fellows. Harvick spun as well. Somehow, Gilliland and Jeff Gordon managed to squeak by.
Stewart -- the version that we've seen in 2008 that doesn't get mad, ever -- didn't say anything negative after the race about Harvick, claiming he hadn't seen the tape. Of course, that hasn't stopped Tony in the past from opening up and spouting off. Of course, counting the wreck at Bristol, this is the second time in '08 that Harvick has taken out Stewart late in the event.
Stewart would battle back and finish 10th, but Fellows and McMurray got the shorter end of the deal. McMurray finished 18th after running third and Fellows finished 28th.
Knowing Stewart like we do, how much longer is it until he decides to pay back Harvick for wrecking him not once, but twice, when the No. 20 was in contention for a win?

It was the post race interview on this wreck that I liked best. The interviewer set it up very well so that Tony could rip Harvick to shreds, not once but twice. All Tony had to say oin the issue was " i have not seen it, so I have no comment on it yet." Now that the whole world has seen it and there is no doubt what happened, I wonder what Tony will have to say.

Wow, and just think how many times Harvick has posed as a cooler head while knocking a lot of the new guys. Harvick is a jerk and and a cry baby. Chicken-shit yellow is the perfect color for his car. And Tony....lay off the meds and have a few beers. At least you're not boring when you're hung over and pitching a bitch. Works for me.....

It's called wheel-hop. You can see the tires smoking when he gets on the brakes, and on the TNT replay, you could HEAR the wheel-hop happening. The commentators even mentioned it.
Happened a few times that day. Traditionally happens quite a bit on the road courses, and has happened to different quality drivers from Jeff Gordon all the way down to Micheal McDowell. It happens.

Well Don,
I have to say, you hit the nail right on the head. Stewart, we miss your bi-polar personality. Please stop taking your medications and come back to entertaining us all. We miss your temper tantrums and ourbursts. They give us all enjoyment. :-)
On a serious note though, I don't believe Harvick wrecked everybody on purpose. Like Bryan and Steve said, it was a "wheel hop." Harvick wasn't the first that day to have that problem. It comes with the territory of road course racing. It sure was exciting to watch none the less. I did feel bad for McMurray though who was finally having a good run.

Stewart and Harvick are best friends. Thats why Stewart didnt go off on him. If it had been McMurray that knocked the 20 car off the track, Stewart would have went beserk. His spotter had to tell him that it wasn't McMurray because Stewart was already planning to retaliate against him.
