Yes, Dover International Raceway has a new guest on its property for this weekend's NASCAR events at the speedway.
The monster, named "Miles", has come to shape over the past few months as the 1-mile speedway has renovated its main entry way. Unveiled for the first time on May 14, the 46-foot tall beast is officially called the "Monster Monument at Victory Plaza, presented by AAA."
The base of the monster lists all of the drivers that have won at Dover in the history of the track.
I think we can chalk this one up to the "If you've got the money..." scenario. It won't make me want to buy tickets to the track, but if I had a 5-year old kid, he might get a kick out of it.

Awww Geof, don't be an ols fuddy-duddy, I like it. They should call it "Dale Earnhardt rising to kick Nascar's ass into gear so the fans can have good racing again." Works for me.....

So, what car is 'Miles' holding? Too bad the Dover concrete behemoth can't crush the cars voted by fans.

On second thought, call it Dale Earnhardt rising out of the ground saying "WTF is this wing doing on my car." Works for me....

I think it's pretty cool, too. Very creative, and probably one of a kind. I'd go see it and I bet the kids would love it. :-)

i just watched the lamest nascar race of my life.what was there one lead chance in 200 miles and that happened in the pits.ive been a nascar fan since the 70s and i dont remember ever see a race with no lead changes on the track.if nascar is goin to sell out american workers, products, and everythings else american maybe its time for americans to boycott NASCAR.LET NASCAR GO TO CHINA AND GET THEIR FANS

This is for prodiver, Why shouldn't the only U.S. built car be allowed in NASCAR? The Fords are built in Mexico and the Chevy and Dodge are built in Canada.
As for the Monster..... The picture doesn't do it any justice. You have got to see it in person with all the names on the base. It's a really cool addition for the track.

The monster trophy will be held up by Kyle Busch

If I am correct, the car that the monster is holding just says "Dover" on the front for the Speedway. However, the trophy given to the winner of the Dover race (a smaller version of the monster holding a car), has the winner's car being held by the monster. I believe when Busch won last Sunday, it was his M&M car the monster trophy was holding when he was presented with it. Can you imagine how expensive it is for the Dover Speedway to make up tiny little replicas of every car running the race since they have no idea who will win? I wonder if they sell them for charity or anything afterwards? That would be a neat trinket for a fan and could probably bring in big bucks for some lucky charity.
