In case you missed last Saturday night's Dodge Challenger 400 at Darlington Raceway, Greg Biffle was fully dominating the first half of the Mother's Day weekend Sprint Cup event. After sitting on the pole, Biffle led 95 laps -- the second-most to race winner Kyle Busch -- before being relegated to finish of 43rd due to a broken timing belt. Upon exiting, Biffle was nothing short of heated with the performance put forth by the efforts of his Roush Fenway Racing team.
"It is really frustrating, but, you know what, I've just come accustomed to expecting it because it's just week after week it's something. Something breaks. Something falls off. We've got wheels loose. We had wheels loose twice tonight," said Biffle.Biffle has become so used to his problems in 2008 -- like these myriad of issues at Texas -- that it's obviously starting to drain on the driver who's up for a new contract after this season. In other words, could greener pastures be on Biffle's horizon?
The FanHouse spoke of this possibility last year, but now more than ever, Biffle seems to putting himself in line to leave the security blanket of racing known as Roush Fenway Racing. Remember, just one week prior to Darlington, Biffle said that he wasn't talking to other teams, and he's told the media that he was 90% sure he'd be back with Roush.
So what's with the harsh words, then?
While it could be bargaining power for the Biff, I'd be more inclined to say that its opening a door for team owner Jack Roush to get his team to the four-car operating limit imposed by NASCAR in the near future on each team.
If/When Biffle decides to leave Roush Fenway, where does he need to end up?
Joe Gibbs Racing -- with its seemingly impending departure of the non-committal Tony Stewart -- could be No. 1 on Biffle's list. If nothing else, getting on the same page as NASCAR's most dominating driver in 2008 (Kyle Busch) surely wouldn't be a bad thing.
Otherwise, I see Biffle's most viable option being either Dale Earnhardt Inc. or Richard Childress Racing's fourth car in 2008. Regardless, a guy with as much raw talent as Kyle Busch will certainly find a ride in the Sprint Cup garage.
For Biffle, though, its just a matter of where he can actually finish and win races and championships.

Biffle and Gibbs would be a winning combination. Greg can be a bit high strung at times, so with Gibb s' experience at handling these types, I don't see how they can lose. Of course it all depends on whether Tony leaves or not. Works for me.....

Although i welcome a BIFFLE MOVE TO GIBBS,i don't think it's going to happen ,because i don't think TONY is going anywhere. All the talk, all the rumors, its nothing alce but leverage and a strong hold for when it comes time for TONY to renew his gibbs contract. How stupid do ya all think TONY is?
Why would he leave the best team in NASCAR today's
days and move to less.Even if he will have an opening at HENDRICKS,(usually the best team),i doubt
it will happen, exspecially now while THE GIBBS DRIVERS ARE ON HIGH GEAR. I see the BAFFLE at GIBBS
in a 4th car team. That's possible.
BIFFLE is probably right if he thinks CARL HATEWARDS
is getting all the A-1 parts.

I agree with you on this one Joe. I had alluded to that in the previous post that TS may just be testing the waters to use leverage in new negotiations with JGR. The man is a top driver and JGR is the top team at this time. Letting him get away would be a loss to the team. While I am sure all the toyota bashers are loving the chance of it happening, TS is not an idiot. He is in it for the dollar and he knows, money talks and all the toyota bashing bull crap walks.

My guess is that Tony wants to stay involved in Nascar long term. That's why I think he might seriously be considering other opportunities. I do not think Tony is just about the money.

I really would like JGR to stay intact. I don't think Tony will go anywhere unless ownership is part of a potential contract. He did say he was surprised at what was offered to him, why not add a Biffle to the mix.

Hello Friends!
Tony is a CHEVY man. Always has been, always will be. Clearly, Kyle Busch is stealing his thunder this season. Kyle is turning out to be an excellent driver. I believe Tony has matured and is ready to move on to a team that first is a Chevy team, second has more mature, equally talented drivers (uh, Hendrick anybody?), and Busch & Hamlin have to be getting on his nerves. They are getting on mine & I don't even have to work with them.
As for Biffle. That would be an excellent move for him. The talent is there and I believe whole heartidly that the better cars & engines are in fact being given to Edwards the past two years. Kenseth & Biffle are too talented to be having the troubles they have had the past two years. Edwards is clearly Jack's boy, so he's not going anywhere. Tony to HMS and Biffle to JGR. Like Don always says, Works for me!
