With Dale Jarrett racing in his final points-paying NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race Sunday afternoon at Bristol Motor Speedway, plenty of memories come flooding back about his storied NASCAR career.
The top of that list? The "Dale and Dale Show" from the 1993 Daytona 500. Watch below as his father, Ned Jarrett, calls his son (Green No. 18 car) to victory past Dale Earnhardt and others -- and try not to smile as he crosses the finish line.
That moment, with Ken Squier stepping out of his role in CBS booth in play-by-play to allow Ned to seemingly instruct his son to victory in the sport's biggest event, is definitely one of the tops in Daytona 500.
One championship, 32 wins, 288 Top-10s, 16 poles -- all impressive for a driver who had even more class than his statistics will ever show. And don't forget about his marquee wins of two Daytona 500s, two Brickyard 400s and a Coca-Cola 600.
When Jarrett hangs up the driving gloves of the No. 44 UPS Toyota after Sunday's Food City 500, NASCAR will lose yet another of the tremendous guiding influences this sport has had from the drivers seat.
Luckily, Jarrett will make one more start at the Sprint All-Star Race in May and will then take over a full-time role in the ESPN broadcast booth so he won't be entirely gone from the sport
What's your favorite Dale Jarrett moment? His first win at Michigan over Davey Allison? His win in the 1996 Daytona 500? His incident with Shane Hmiel?

Thanks for the memories, Dale! You will be missed as you are one of the last of an "original breed" of driver. As a long time fan, I am so sad to see you go but pleased you will be in the booth so we will still have your expert opinions and analysis to hold on to.
In addition, last week's commercial featuring Dale racing the truck on what was supposed to be his last lap, and having all the "new age" drivers like Gordon, Stewart, Johnson and others join along side him to race one more time with him, seriously made me cry! That was by far one of the most touching commercial ads I have ever seen and such a sweet way to say "Goodbye" to such a well respected legend!
We love you, Dale!

Well said Kim, I hate to see Dale hang it up too. I only wish he had found a better ride to finish out his career with. Hopefully he won't sneak back from time to time to just take up space like Elliot and some others do, that would be sad. My favorite UPS commercial was the one where the little boy is holding his breath until Dale races the UPS truck. But they all were funny and very entertaining. Good luck Dale.....thanks for the memories. Works for me.....

It is not only sadd but also ugly to loose another legend of racing. We miss DALE, we miss CRUSTY W.,many miss ELLIOT fulltime. Soon MARTIN,SCHRADER etc. will drop out too.The pony tail biker will live to ride;the WALMARTRIP will run the new toyota
enterprice racing.Who will be left out there to watch every sunday? SIMPLE: the bulls vs the jaguars. ( the gibbs bully's against the hendrick's
jaguars).better yet: the sinners against the saints.
Work's for me.

Hey Geof, what's going on? Only about 1 in 5 posts make it thru these days. I think you'd have a lot more responses if we could get them posted. Works for me.....
