It's been quite a year for the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series, and with that comes a nice collection of crash clips splashed across the ends of the internet.NASCAR rolled out the Car of Tomorrow for part-time use in 2007 in anticipation of full-time use in 2008 with safety as a top priority. That was indeed a good idea because even though the now-defunct body style was a mostly safe model and the tracks keep adding SAFER barriers, one thing is still the same.
The drivers are still crashing, and crashing hard.
From the last-lap pile-up during the season-opening Daytona 500 to the Chase-changing crash at Dover in the fall, here's a look back at the biggest hits from the 2007 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series Season.
Enjoy.

I have been watching, as much as possible, NASCAR since Richard Petty raced and am a true fan of NASCAR and Indy, My nickname being "Andretti".
The ONLY compliant I have about auto racing is too many commercials. I love the speed, approve of necessary rules, restrictor plated okay, but cut some commercials. I know, from experience, racing is expensive. Just please, fewer commercials.

Know what would really make racing interesting again? Just run stock cars instead of the high torqued hot rods. With all the safety features currently in effect, we'd see a heck of alot more real racing.

Have to agree with you on that. I gave up my season tickets and even worked the last 2 sunday's. I used to love it but it is now very different. The chase is o.k. but france and helton are getting away from the hardcore fans. Seems alot like Dinsney now.

If you think the sport is going down the sh---- then I guess you missed this year. Some of the best racing I've seen in 15 years. Can't wait for February.

Hello C.O.T. and 43 IROC cars, good bye stockcar racing. Drive over Mike Heelton (spelt right)and his hollywood crew. They aren't interested in saftey, just money or they would allow the crews to make their cars safer by using better tires ( Hoosiers) better springs, better aero packages and get rid of the goddamn restictor platess. If a drivers feels he is going too damn fast, then he can go slower or get into a slower class, like gokarts.

OK the COT is safe ie: a tank. But geez racing is a spectater sport without us good luck. With no one at the show who cares who wins. Wake up Nascar Wake up Mr Franz. Lets get back to the daredevils, Like the Mr Earnhardts. He new the score, but he did not care, there is a problem now please fix it. Lets drop all this safety sh-- and let the drivers drive them cars stay out of the cars sir. And piss on lawyers.

NA$CAR, France and Helton are just greedy a-holes and they know it. Best part is they don't care. The sport did die with Earndhart. Since then, France and Helton have driven it into the ground. How do you have a playoff with every team in it. Stupid idea. Restrictor plates.....stupid idea. And France admitted he doesn't care about the long time die hard fan. Well guess what Mr France, they don't care about you either. Want proof, look at your ratings.

pLATES ARE FOR THE KITCHEN - NOT IN NASCAR. ELLIOT WENT 212 MPH - AND HE WAS RIGHTFULLY SCARED! WE NEED THAT BACK. THAT WAS ALMOST 30 MPH FASTER THEN WHAT THEY CALL FAST NOW. LET THEM GO - ROOF FLAPS GOOD, SAFER BARRIERS GOOD, COT, WELL THE IROC WAS GOOD AT TIMES. LETEM RUN!

If all of you above me hate NASCAR so much and think racing is going down the "shitter," (spelled correctly for your pleasure) and is "boring" and "too safe," then why do you continue to watch? Better yet, why post on the fanhouse if you ARE NOT A FAN! It sounds like many of you were never "true" NASCAR fans to begin with. Go watch your football and let us true NASCAR fans get back to enjoying our sport, restrictor plate, COT, and all!
