You've really got wonder if now-former New Hampshire "He didn't make any promises, I want to make that clear," Bahre said. "But I don't think he's going to move any dates out of here.Bahre's speedway was sold last week to Bruton Smith's Speedway Motorsports, Inc. SMI owns the tracks of Atlanta, Bristol, Infineon, Las Vegas, Lowe's, and Texas.
There was rampant speculation last week -- including here at the Fanhouse -- that Smith would immediately move one or both of New Hampshire's Nextel Cup race dates to Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Smith denied that such a plan was in place during the announcement, but he didn't necessarily say anything that denied the move could happen, either.
Now we've heard Smith deny that, but he also gave another plausible idea:
Ship a date away from Atlanta Motor Speedway.
If you think about the idea, it makes sense on the level of selling tickets. Atlanta had noticeably open seats two weeks ago while NHMS has sold out for years. Obviously, Atlanta is a bigger market, but California has proved how much that doesn't matter when it comes to selling tickets.
So one date at Atlanta for two at NHMS and Las Vegas? I don't know what I think about that. The history in Atlanta -- albeit an old configuration -- might be a little too much.
What say you?

Leave NH alone,it's a moneymaker. take one each away from Atlanta and California. Too bad he didn't buy Pocono. The most boring track I've watched on tv and have been to. Maybe it could be rebuilt as a 1-1/2 mile hi banked track.

I have a gay friend named Ken who loves going to Atlanta for the races, but I think it's a boring track. I say close it and give it's last race to the track in Mexico.

Why did you find it necessary to say you have a "gay friend named Ken" rather than "a friend named Ken. What was your point in that? Just wondering.

Hi Ron!
Crap, he's back.......I thought he was missing in action for awhile. You know the answer to that question you posed to him, Sweetie. It was just to get someone all riled up, he just doesn't know who yet.
Don, they prefer to be called "Homosexuals" than "gay," or better yet, just call them
Human beings, after all they put their pants on one leg at a time just like you and I do!

I'm sure you noticed he didn't respond to your profile. That way he can say he never read it. But we all know he read it. :-) That profile was really good!!! You impress me with all your smarts babe. I hope your dream of becoming a profiler comes true.
So how ya been doin sweet stuff? I see you're still given'em hell. Keep doin it, you're good at it.

I have an idea! Lets open North wilkesboro back up,add some dirt tracks,(springfield, syracuse, eldora, volusia, lowes dirt, etc.) and take away as many repeat dates as we can. Widen the market without shutting other tracks down.Let some of these prima donnas go race a real track. I like road courses too,but sonoma needs to be revamped badly.

NO NO NO! Im sick and tired of the southern states losing races in Nextel! I understand expanding to new areas, but quit taking them from the southern ones! If you start to get too far from your heritage and where the MAJORITY of your fans are, the sport will fall apart and will hold the same future that is just around the corner for IRL! It was obviously apparent that it's not wanted in those venues, as apparent with the near riot that was created in New York, so why go where your not wanted? If Nascar gets too far from it's base of fans, it will fail.

Duh, you need to check out the scene in Atlanta to know why he likes to go there for the races. He prefers being called gay and is proud of it. Even Ron the drag queen should understand that. And yes Kim the dim, I read your made up profile of me, and it was totally wrong, just like most of the things you post here. Hmmm I'm beginning to think the scientists were right about that boob/intelligence thing. And as to moving the race to Mexico, well, racing started in the south and how much further south can you get than that. Works for me......

I agree with CJ. I think you will find much of the explosion of the Nascar following across the country was probably a fad. Much like the city girls that like to put on a cowboy hat and boots and go out to troll for guys. They look cute but hey, sit down and eat some grits, some fried catfish, and some chicken fried steak smothered in white gravy and I might believe you are a good southern or country girl.
Any ways, why is it that many of the tracks are now not full anymore? The bandwagon jumpers are bored. Been there, done that, now we are moving on. "Yes, it was fun acting like a redneck for a time, but there must be something new and exciting to try. Please pass the brie and chardonney."
Nascar needs to "dance with the one that brung ya." If the mega markets around the country will actually fill the stands, fine. But if they do not why are we abandoning the tracks that made it what it is today?

You can say what you want about me, but I am anything but "dim." And since you have never proven to me otherwise, I believe you know close to nothing about NASCAR and close to nothing about many other things, especially when it comes to socializing with others. I also don't care what you say about "my profile" of you. It was right on, trust me! I have more, too but will not insult everyone else on this board by admonishing your manhood any further!
Any time you would like to go round to round with me intellectually, NASCAR or otherwise, just let me know! I will gladly prove how much smarter than you I am! But then, you won't do that. You'll just continue to berate me because that's the only thing you know how to do. Works for me, too!
And as for Ron, he is not a "drag queen." As usual though the smartest thing you can do is insult others and name call. Gee, what a MAN you are, Don! Why don't you take your bulls&*t and spew it elsewhere. Most of us here are tired of it!

I have no problem with bringing International stars to racing from IRL or other racing leagues. I do however have a problem with NASCAR taking our races to other countries such as Mexico. I also read somewhere recently that they were considering a race in Canada. Come on already, Canada? They are close enough to us to come here for a race. NASCAR is an American sport with American fans, most of whom are blue collar citizens. The attendance problem here is simple. They are charging too much money for the average blue collar working class citizen to be able to afford to go to a race. I for one want to see more races in the US at new tracks. How about we shake things up by actually building some new, maybe even adding more road courses, or dirt tracks for that matter. Let's make it interesting and let’s make it more affordable for your average "Joe" again. You know who I am referring to....the ones that made NASCAR so rich in the first place!

If they take a race away from anywhere it should be from Fontana, but hey lets give it back to a track in the southern portion of the USA "don", and not to LOST WAGES just because it's a party town. I have been to the Vegas race twice, it's a pain in the ass to get in and out of that track and the race itself is actually pretty boring. I think the reason people get into it is that it is the 2nd race on the schedule and everyone that is a nascar fan is starved for some rubbin and racin but at "COOKIE CUTTER" Vegas there ain't much rubbin going on.
Jeff:
I'm not quite sure what you mean by revamping of Infineon but I have been going there for quite a few years now and they have completely re-done the seating with stadium seating all around the track which allows each fan a much larger area to relaxe in with more butt, leg, and ice chest room. The down side of the track is that it is a road course and without large viewing screens around the track you can't see everything that is going on, But that's just the nature of the beast (road track). But that by itself is nothing compared to Daytona, Talladega, the Brickyard.....once the cars go by you there your waiting forever for them to come back by again.
The problem is the all mighty $$$$$ with nascar, more, more, more.........MORE IS NOT ALWAYS BETTER! ! !

Take it away from the fastesst track? Well that makes about as much sense as anything Asscar does these days. $$$$ is all it's about anymore. How about they just split into and southeast and the rest league then take the 10 top drivers at the end and bring them back to Daytona for a winner take all.

I agree with you! Daytona should be where the final race in the chase is held each and every year. Not only is Daytona an exciting track, but it's the most popular among most NASCAR fans and the deep tradition of winning it means so much to the drivers.
I have an even better idea. How about instead of the higher ups at NASCAR deciding where the races should take place, especially the race for the championship, how about they poll all the drivers and ask them where they would like to race. I am willing to bet many if not all would want to hold the final race in the chase at either Daytona or Brickyard due to the strong traditions/meaning both tracks hold to many drivers. But then again, that will never happen. God forbid we actually ask the guys who race where they would want to win their championship at! :-)
