For the guys who apply the name decals to the Haas CNC No. 66 Chevrolets and the No. 36 Bill Davis Racing Toyota, Monday brought plenty of new work.
Jeremy Mayfield will replace Jeff Green in the No. 66 immediately after departing Bill Davis' ride. With the No. 36 BDR ride available (and lacking a sponsor in '08), Davis hired a pair of Craftsman Truck Series drivers with past Cup experience to finish out the year.
Johnny Benson and Mike Skinner will split those duties. Skinner gets the gig at Atlanta this weekend and then at Texas Motor Speedway while Benson will wrap up the year at Phoenix and Homestead.
With Scott Riggs already announced as a Haas CNC driver for 2007, the driver lineup will completely change at Haas with both Jeff Green and Johnny Sauter on the way out it seems.

This is very interesting, but not surprising to me. Example: Is there a single week that goes by where Jeff Green & Johnny Sauter don't wreck out of the race or at least don't manage to limp their way at the tail end of the line each week? I can't seem to remember a time when either one finished well this season, if even finished at all. Benson & Skinner both have experience and I believe will be more successful in these rides next year.
On a side note, when ABC ran their Nascar in Primetime series, it seemed like they featured Johnny Sauter each week along with Montoya. They barely even mentioned or spoke with other drivers, especially you know, the winning drivers. I was annoyed! I also found Sauter to be a bit of a "hot head" and a cry baby not to mention the endless "whining" of his girlfriend each time they would cut to her during his racing was more than a little annoying!
This is a good move. Skinner seems like a good choice to replace Sauter and Benson, while not familiar with him, can't possibly be any worse than Jeff Green, could he?

Ugh. Jeremy Mayfield? I was really hoping he was going to go away since he has dropped several tiers as far as teams go. I kinda thought he was barely hanging onto that last rung but it seems someone has saved him again. Maybe he's finally learned to just drive the car and keep his big mouth shut.

I have to say, Jeremy Mayfield and Scott Riggs are a much better team than Johnny Sauter and Jeff Green. It does suprise me cause i thought that was the best car left out there that needed a driver and i thought David Stremme would have a better shot of getting it than Jeremy Mayfield, but Mayfield is the better driver of the two. I honestly dont not only where, but if, David Stremme will end up or if he'll even have a Nextel Cup ride. This team doesnt have great rides, but at least they are in the top 35 in owner points. I hope Riggs and Mayfield have success there, but i'd be suprised if they did.

Still can't figure out why they keep rcycling worn out used up drivers. Not a winner in the bunch, so I guess they must work cheap. C'mon nascar, beat the bushes and round us up some new faces.

Kim,
I believe you read it wrong. Benson and Skinner are sharing the rest of the races for Jeremy Mayfield's ride in the #36 toyota. Jeremy and Scott Riggs are replaing Sauter and Green.
