Has there been a moment since July 29th when ESPN/ABC made you wish you had DirecTV's NASCAR HotPass? If so, DirecTV wants to hear about it. The satellite TV company is sponsoring a contest put together by my fellow NASCAR blogger, CCR @ The Black Flag Blog. The Black Flag NASCAR Hotpass Moment Contest affords fans the opportunity to submit an entry of 250 words or less on the following topic:
"The moment when ESPN/ABC made me wish I had DirecTV's NASCAR HotPass was when..."
Each entry will be judged for humor, writing and creativity and the winners win stuff.
Do I even remember my first one? There have been so many moments! Maybe this was it. No matter. Unfortunately, I won't be able to submit my own because ... I will be judging the contest!
And I encourage all of you to participate!

I dont care if Brad leaves, he comes off as a complete idiot with bland answers when it comes to Nascar, but i like Rusty above all the others cause he's the only one out there not willing to hand Jeff Gordon the trophy without running anymore races. All these other lame-brain idiots are just so boring and just want to go ahead and crown Gordon, well, sorry but there are four more races in there and guess what, two of them are the tracks that Gordon has never won on, Texas and Homestead! I think Jimmie or yes even Tony still has a chance, but until the last lap is ran at Homestead, STOP SAYING GORDON HAS IT CAUSE HE DOESNT, THE SEASON'S NOT OVER JACKASSES!

Let me see. It is 100 miles from Lynchburg to Richmond VA. My motorcycle will go 100+ MPH. Mathematically it is possible I could make that trip in one hour or less. Still doesn't mean it is ever going to happen.

Mike,
I sure hope not anyway. Have you not heard about the HUGE fines your Virginians receive if you get caught speeding? LOL

Yes, I have heard of them. They will probably be thrown out by the supreme court. As they only apply to Virginians and not residents of other states, it is well believed they violate the 14th ammendment of the Constitution.

I am sorry to see Rusty go. He has been a terrific competitor over the years and has a lot of knowledge to add to the commentary.

ABC/ESPN broadcast of NASCAR is the perfect solution for insomnia. Brad's comments make vanilla pudding seem like the tastiest wellington while if I hear Rusty say "...driving their brains out" again, I may blow mine out! When describing folks driving in a constant oval, new ways of describing the action are needed. The folks at FOX seem to have a lot of fun with their races and each other. That makes the broadcast easy to watch.
Disney is the parent company for the current broadcasters. How about incorporating some of their characters into the race. Have them roam the track during actual racing. The cars have to dodge the characters (in order to finish the race) but if the characters are hit, the drive gets "x" amount of points. The key for the chasers is when to hit a Disney character and get points vs. the points that they would have gotten if they had finished the race. The character hit points would vary according to the characters popularity in our pop culture. Perhaps Disney could put Brad and Rusty in a costume and allow them to roam upon the track. Since they are both equally irritating, striking them would gain 100 bonus points over and above the character's assigned points.

Some of you who haven't already who have commented in this thread should really enter. We've already got some real solid entries, but I see some real contenders here.

Rusty's biggest problem was that he came over with intelligence and insight. They don't want that from former drivers. They want them to be redneck and clownish, like Darrell Waltrip. After all, NASCAR has an perception to live up to and Rusty didn't understand that.

i think Rusty has done a great job. I think the other two have really dragged him down.I thonk what would help is to keep Rusty, add jarrett, and maybe one other who knows what they are talking about.the woman is terrible, the other guy seems totally in the dark about nascar.
