Carl Edwards won the Dodge Dealers 400 today to claim his first victory at Dover International Speedway, his third win of the season. The win bolstered his Chase run, bumping him up to the 3rd position, but it may not hold through penalty day. After several late-race restarts, Edwards drove away from runnerup Greg Biffle following the final caution period with five laps to go.
The bad news is, Edwards' winning Office Depot #99 Ford failed post-race inspection because the right rear was too low. Doesn't sound like he's going to have the same luck as Tony Stewart did last week when Smoke's low tolerance was deemed the result of race damage.
If the average penalty for a non-COT penalty is assessed, he will be docked 25 points and will fall to the 6th position, giving way to Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch and Clint Bowyer.
Most unfortunate. Whether it was a spring or something else, it was costly. With as tight a race as these guys are running for the championship, they cannot affords "infractions" such as this.

This just stinks, I did not know there was a race today. Neither did ABC. I came in from working outside at 230 and tuned in ABC. I thought I saw 1/2 lap of green flag racing but they cut away to a commercial. ABC would not cut away during the NFL playoffs while the clock was running so I figured it was not actually a race. I took a shower and helped the wife with a few things. Turned ABC back on in time to learn how a shock absorber and spring works, damn, still no race. Helped with some more wifey things, tried again and got to see ten minutes of really intense RED FLAG racing, IE parked cars. STILL NO RACE. Went and cooked dinner, came back and got a football update. DAMN NO RACE. Finally I saw some really cool yellow flag racing, woo woo. They did not seem to be going that fast, I am surprised nobody made a pass during that segment but at least I got to see the whole yellow flag segment.
Somebody please tell ABC when the green flag, the white flag, or the checkered flag is out you show the race. When the other colors are out you show the fluff.

I was at the race today. My boy won!!! I was soooooo happy, still am. But I am bummed that they are going to penalize Carl :( Hopefully they will see he had some contact on the track and he will be able to keep those valuable points!

What was up with Stewart running into Ragan several times in pit lane and on the track with no punishment from Nascar. Appears Tony knew he had a lousy car and decided to take it out on someone else. What happened to the rulebook? Or is it just for certain drivers.

Speaking of ABC... will someone please shut up the guy that announces with Rusty? Pay attention and you will see he only "parrots" comments from Rusty. Just rephrases what was said. No original thoughts of his own!

Hopefully once they get the car back to the Nascar garage and take a good look at it they will find out whatever is wrong is not human error but part of racing. Carl is NOT a cheater.Tony Steward as well as Denny Hamlin need to be fined and docked some points. Both were in the wrong. I am really upset at Hamlin for the hit on poor Kyle Petty who had no problem all day letting the chase cars pass when he could but Hamlin just had to be stupid and take Kyle out. There is no one that can say Kyle is an "out to get you" type driver ever. He needed to stay as high as he could for owner points and Hamlin doesn't care about anyone but himself. Using the "not feeling well" doesn't cut it either. If he did not feel well he should not have been on the track. PERIOD>

Sounds like the rules are for some people and not others!!!!! Tony Stewart has had several things this year he should have had a penalty over, but do you see him getting docked any points??????? as far Denny, he has been learning from his teammate the wrong way to race!!!!!!!! I think they should penalize Carl just like the did Dale,JR, Jeff and Jimmie. Go Jimmie Johnson, win the title again!!!!!!

I couldn't agree with you more! I absolutely HATE ABC's coverage or shall I say lack there of, of Nascar races. I am so sick and tired of them cutting away from green flag racing to show me the parts on a car and how & why they work/don't work or broke on some driver's car that is already out of the race! Uh, it's infuriating! And what happened to the "no commercials" the last 25 laps? So what if there were cautions. If you say no commericials, then NO COMMERCIALS! And someone, please fire that female want to be Nascar announcer. She is absolutely useless! Is she there to make me feel like we women have achieved equality or there to show us women that we are still stupid (as far as sports are concerned that is)? Seriously! (Of course we women are NOT stupid when it comes to our sports, but she sure is!)

Mike and Kim hit the nail on the head, ABC's coverage (200 out of 400 laps) is a joke. There are plenty of women who know alot about nascar and racing in general but the one they are using is terrible and please get rid of the basketball player. The quote the guy made during the cut-away for a dead cylinder I have to take exception with "that's the dead Puppy in this litter". Does he not know there are children watching.
And Hey Don I never saw Tony hit Ragan but he sure did let Menard know how he felt.

TV coverage is most definitely lacking on ALL channels! It's the same crap week in, week out..Nascar needs to take a serious look at itself and do something, because they are alienating a lot of fans. Inconsistent penalties or lack of penalties(stupid intentional stuff/flagrant cheating), race calls(let the boys rub a little please), cautions, arguing over sponsors(who help the sport survive),depriving the fans(who also help the sport survive) of a LEGITAMATE race call, and the venues in which they race. Please send some race back to the southeast where they are appreciated more. A photo of Mike Helton and Paris Hilton together(in Nascar Scene publication)is the final straw is ridiculous. Do we need that Hollywood crap? Keep the rest of the glitzy actors away...and while their at it,stop flooding the market with NASCAR crap...I mean NASCAR burgers, come on! My suggestion to true fans, watch the race with volume off and put on MRN with Barney Hall and staff and feel the enjoyment of being at the race, even if you can't be their. To NASCAR, please consider your future and listen to the fans, before they stop attending races and tuning in. To much expansion kills sports, teams, and venues. Go back to your roots before it's to late. And while your at it let the drivers show some emotion..ex:Gordon/Kennseth..Petty/Hamlin..Harvick/Montoya..let'um yell and scream and settle it as long as no one gets hurt..Roots ex:Yarborough/Allison brothers...Was at race in Dover, good hard racing, fans in attendance really enjoyed it, to bad there is not enough of it..good short/intermediate tracks are where it's at....thanks for reading.

No Problem Don, and your exactly right. I mean I like Tony but his attitude needs to be put in check, I think he needs to go to his corner and scratch his mad spot awhile. By the way, Love all or most of your comments, why Cause it works for me.

Why would Carl only be docked 25 points. Prerace inspections have been 100 points. So why would after a guy wins, gets the points for the win, would he only lose 25.

OK, people, let's recap:
Andy Petree is ONLY there because Larry Mc Reynolds is on Fox.
Rusty is ONLY there because DW is on Fox.
And ABC/ESPN is ONLY there because Fox has to do NFL games on weekends in September, October, and November.
Got it?

Hey ohiosteelerfan:
You do realize that WE have to pro-teams here in Ohio, the Browns & the Bengals, right? I truly do not understand why so many people in this great state of ours turn thier backs on their own teams. Sure they have had some problems, but heck Carson Palmer almost led the Bengals to the Superbowl last year & I believe they have a decent chance again this year. And as for the Browns, they are playing better this year than they have in years. Why not throw some support to your hometown teams instead of being a "bandwagon" Steelers fan?

Why oh why would you move to Ohio from Southern California? That must have been a HUGE adjustment for you. I myself have been thinking of doing just the opposite and moving to California from Ohio. How funny, huh?
Anyway, sorry if I insulted you. Welcome to Ohio, truly! I guess it's okay that you are a Steeler's fan since you always have been. :-) It's just there are so many lifelong buckeyes in this state who have turned their backs on our hometown teams and become die hard Steeler's fans. And you are right, our teams do tend to "roll over" sometimes, but they are coming out of the gate pretty strong this year. Hey, all I can do is have hope, right?
See you around the blog!
