Travis Kvapil will return to the Cup series (yea!) replacing the retiring Ricky Rudd in the #88 Chevy in 2008--or sooner. Owner Robert Yates, 64, is also retiring and will turn the reigns of the renamed Yates Racing over to son Doug at the end of this season. The Roush Yates engine partnership will continue and Doug shall strive to grow Yates into a pre-eminent team like Roush Fenway.Stremme Latest Free Agent
Car owner Chip Ganassi doesn't really want to let David Stremme go, but since losing the Coors sponsorship he has nothing to offer the driver for next season so he has not yet picked up his option. Career stats: 2 top 10s, 8 laps led. Ouch. But ... even with the Yates and DEI opening already filled, silly season is still going strong. There'll be somebody out there looking for a little experience.
I wonder ... if I were an owner, who would look more appealing ... Stremme? or Mayfield? Eh. I'd like more choices, but ... I'm going to have to go with Mayfield, baggage and all. A mere two seasons ago, he was contending for the championship. He hasn't forgotten how to drive. But first we'd have to have a come to Jesus meeting. Then again, Stremme is probably more marketable, so ... let's make that an undecided, dependent upon sponsors.
Scott Riggs has next. David Reutimann on deck.
Parlez-vous français?
In French, it's better concealed how bad it is. In English, it's painfully obvious.
Go Fish
Big Fish Games has launched a Roush Fenway Racing-branded gaming site for RoushFenway.com. Uh ... ok?

Too bad - I like Stremme - hope someone picks him up. It stinks that he would be replaced by indy car driver Dario Fanchitti although he would make good fit with juan pablo. What is going on in nascar? Pretty soon we'll see all NFL, NBA owners hiring drivers that never went through the busch series and putting grass roots owners like wood bros, yates out of business. that'll be the end for us.

I would pick Jeremy Mayfield. I think he was justified with his comments about Ray and Erin. I would love to know why Nascar and the Speed Channel reporters didn't report the story. They claim that they tell it like it is and that's just not true. Plus, it hurts womens chances of breaking into the sport. I wouldn't want my husband hiring a woman driver with the code of silence that Nascar reporters obviously have.

Finally, the drivers i've been saying are a bust are finally getting fired! I said Yeley and Stremme both needed to be kicked to the curve, and guess what, they are! I know Yeley's got another ride, but it's a piece of crap that's a one car team, so he's future wont go far, and now Stremme who'll be lucky if he finds another Cup ride, and if he does, he'll have one like Yeley. Im sure he'll get rumored for RCR's fourth or Scott Riggs, but in the end he'll probably, if he gets another, i'd say it'll be probably the one car team of Wood Brothers. The next guy i think needs to be cut? That'd be David Reutimann and Dave Blaney and both have contracts ending this year and are in negotations. Maybe they'll end up the employement too, at least they need to be! YOU HEAR ME BLANIACS, DAVE NEEDS TO BE FIRED!
