Kyle Petty got a little mad Sunday afternoon at Watkins Glen. And as a result, he won't be racing Sunday at Michigan. The heir-apparent to any new driving opportunity at Petty Enterprises, Chad McCumbee will instead take over.
Petty had surgery Tuesday on a broken right hand suffered after an incident on course at lap 69.
It sounds like self-contact was to blame for the injury:
Kyle Petty, driver of the No. 45 Petty Enterprises Dodge suffered a broken hand as a result of hitting the butt of his right hand on a door inside the hauler after a lap 69 incident in Sunday's Centurion Boats at the Glen at Watkins Glen International road course.Maybe it was just a ploy to get McCumbee in the car again? After all, the kid did a fantastic job at the first Pocono race and Petty has had nothing but praise for the driver on his rotational role with PRN's Fast Talk.
[...] He flew back to his home in North Carolina, where he was treated by a doctor who determined that the hand was broken.
Or, most likely, Petty got mad and had a little bit of anger built up because his car didn't perform at all Sunday and because he had to fire a crew chief.
He's scheduled to be back for the breeze of a race that is Bristol. Right.

Kyle Petty is still someone for America to look up to. He's kind, careing, and tuff as nails. He has carried the weight of the world on his shoulders for a very long time and still finds the time to help children.
Charley
PS---If America had only 10 Kyle Pettys we could truley change the world.

Kyle, go ride the bike, Victory's don't make it neither do you.
Admire your Charity but as a driver like little E, your not your Daddy.

I would like to see Kyle in the booth too..I agree, he does give more excitement to watching and understanding what's going on in the race. And no, he's not his daddy...he's kyle petty and that's good enough for me.

Sorry Lisenbarth, but your laughably questionable premise aside, there aren't 10 more Kyle Pettys and the world is likely irreparably screwed up anyway (depending on how one personally quantifies such a thing, obviously), so I suggest you go somewhere and quietly accept that. Besides, change the world to what? You'd always be dealing with multitudes of whiny, unhappy people regardless of what you instituted. No, life is primarily about making your own personal world as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, worrying too much about the world in general outside of your own little sphere is largely a fool's game, but have fun.

What's really sad is the Petty's are the class of racing and just about ALL fans don't know it. Most of the slow-witted, red-neck, sub-moronic idiots out there sing the praises of the Earnhardt's!!!
So let's figure this out. The "King" is Richard and he's a Petty. The "Intimidator" couldn't hold Richard's duffel bag. The Petty's give countless hours and money to charity (ever heard of Victory Junction Gang Camp). The Earhardt's (what did Dale ever do and what the hell does his offspring do either)do little that is knowledgeable to the world. Funny thing is Jr. lives around the corner and down the street from the Petty camp and RARELY IF EVER shows his face like so many other drivers in NASCAR.
Bottom line folks, STOP idolziing the WRONG family. The Petty's are the class on and off the track. The Earnhardt's don't deserve the praise - so smarten up and figure out what's important!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ya know, the ignorance continues on most of your parts. First, Kyle NEVER professed to be his daddy or even attempt to compete with him. On the other hand, the Earnhardt "offspring" is always trying to be like his daddy and HE NEVER WILL AMOUNT TO ANYTHING CLOSE. So get it right you idiots! And go ahead and make fun of Kyle and his philanthropic endeavors (let's see if any of you ignorant red-necks know what that means). Like I said previously, figure out what's important in life because it sure ain't what the Earnhardt's have always chased.....victories. Oh by the way, victories are far and few in that camp right now. HA HA HA Jr., have an enjoyable fall WATCHING THE CHASE.....
