What are you doing this weekend, Boris? What's that? You're helping TGOM win the Blaniac Challenge, you say? Most of the road race ringers were shut out by rain this weekend at Watkins Glen International, but at least one driver thought it would be a shame not to have Boris Said behind the wheel of a race car. I totally agree!
Wood Brothers/JTG Racing co-owner Len Wood:
"Bill [Elliott] came to me and said, 'In the best interest of the team, let's put Boris in. Bill is an excellent road racer - the first race he ever won was at Riverside. He suggested putting Boris in. We first cleared it with our sponsors and then went to NASCAR and cleared it with them."Woohoo! I'm sure that makes the Said Heads happy. But more importantly, it makes me very happy!
Both the WBJTF #21 and BDR #22 cars will finally push the Ginn Racing #13 out of the top 35 in owner points and one of them will officially gain the spot. With the #21 only 26 points behind the #22 heading to a road course with Said behind the wheel, it's highly likely they could steal the Ginn Gift back from Dave Blaney, who would then be on the outside looking in again next week at MIS.
This weekend I'm a Said Head!

That was very nice of Bill! I like when boris races, him & Scott Pruett are the only 'road ringers' I like.

That reminds me of why Bill Elliott was my favorite when I started watching NASCAR. That is not only about the smartest thing the team could have done (seeing how high they ended up in practice), but it's so very sweet! I love Boris and think any road race without him is a shame.
Now I'll go wish blissfully that the Wood Brothers would really go out on a limb and just hire Boris to drive for them outright. Yeah, he's older and older doesn't get rides, especially when they're newer to oval racing, but the revolving door of Elliott, Schrader and Wood isn't getting them anywhere. They're staying solidly around 35. Elliott can be let to just retire, Schrader needs to freedom to know he can race anything (I keep hoping for trucks) and Jon Wood needs the time to recover mentally from the troubles he's had this year before dealing with pressure from his dad again. Boris in a car full time? Would make me SO HAPPY. (And is unrealistic, but I can only hope.)

I heard that orginially Evernham wanted to put him in Rigg's ride for this weekend, but they couldnt get it worked out among sponsors. If they replace Riggs, which he's a good guy and i hope they dont, but if they do, i'd love to see Boris replace him fulltime. Kudos for Bill Elliott, what a stand up thing to do.

This just points out the difference between the drivers of today, and the drivers of yesterday who made Nassycar what it is today. Class is just one of many things the new breed of drivers is lacking in.It's all me..me...me, with no regards for the rest of the team or more importantly....the fans. So thanks Bill, for a breath of fresh air and a reminder of what we have lost.

More power to Bill Elliott, he is a classy driver. Never hear anything bad about him, Huh! What a relief from the other cry babies and temper tantrums from those who you know who they are. Class act Bill, Just hire Boris and let him ride.
