20 races and an idiotic feud with a teammate later, Tony Stewart is back in NASCAR Nextel Cup victory lane.Stewart held off Matt Kenseth to cruise to his first victory of 2007 at Chicagoland Speedway in Sunday's USG Sheetrock 400.
Joe Gibbs made an unexpected visit to Chicagoland on Saturday and forced Denny Hamlin and Stewart to hash out their differences from the "one-car" crash at Daytona a week before.
"I'm glad this is over," said Stewart. "I'm going on vacation."It's funny how Stewart always seems to offset something stupid he said or did with a good run the next week. See: Watkins Glen win in 2002 after punching a photographer in Indianapolis.
2006 Cup Champ Jimmie Johnson ran strong much of the race, but an exploding right rear tire put his No. 48 car in the wall late. Johnson escaped the wicked crash with only a bruised elbow.
Pole-sitter Casey Mears was the highest-finishing Hendrick car in 5th.
The Cup Series will now be off until Indianapolis in two weeks for the 14th-running of the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard, or in my book, the Brickyard 400.

TRUE.... Stewart is ONE HELLUVA race driver! HOWEVER... someone should give the creep a razor and teach him how to use it!
AND.... he didn't "invent" the fence climbing thing, Helio Castroneves did!! In fact, the GREAT A. J. Foyt was the first I remember, around '66 (+ or - ?) he climbed the fence at Indy when they had a first lap "pile up"!
Stewart has an "attitude problem" and if I was running Nascar Cup, I would gladly give him an adjustment, donchanoe!!

The only thing better than Tony winning a race is seeing him fall off that damn catch fence....

You obviously have something against Tony Stewart. How can you be a real journalist/blogger is beyond me.
You take a clean win and bring negative towards it.

yes..he does have something against smoke for some reason. i think if we have robots (kenseth) who wants to say what people want to hear then this great sport would sink so low. tony says what is on his mind and that is what makes him great. even if what he says might be wrong. but in the heat of the moment it's hard to act like a robot.

Sorry certain "reporters" don't realize everyone is human!! That's why we fans love NASCAR... we want raw emotion and that's what we get from Tony. Like him or not, he adds a punch to the sport unlike any other. God forbid if we had to listen to Jeff Gordon/Jimmy Johnson every week for a post-race interview!! We all know everything is "happy, happy, happy" 24/7 for the Hendrick camp!! Let's just hope Dale Jr. doesn't fall into their mold!!
