The superspeedway races have certainly seen some of the more spectacular crashes in NASCAR history. They range from hit-n-runs causing a single car to go flying to pileups involving half the field or more.Kyle Busch's wreck on Saturday was reminiscent of Tony Stewart's airborne roll crash last year and Elliott Sadler's in 2003 and Ryan Newman's at Daytona and ...
Of course, no one will forget last October in 'Dega when Brian Vickers took out leaders Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jimmie Johnson, his then teammate, on the last lap for the win.
Here's a look back at some of the more memorable wrecks at Daytona and 'Dega.

- 1998 Talladega - Restrictor plates were born after Bobby Allison destroyed the catch fence and almost flew into fans at 200mph
- 1994 Talladega - The reason Mark Martin hates going to Talladega

Dale Earnhardt Sr. was my favorite and what went on after the race by fans is done by those who have no respect for anyone including themselves. You can say they suffer from accute infinite impedeance between the ears.Someone was bound to break the record and we all know it.

It has become more and more obvious that Tony Stewart was right last week. NASCAR held that last yellow until Jeff Gordon made the pass and then immediately threw it sealing the win for him. This is getting ridiculous. Its happening time and time again and it has to be more than coincidence.

NASCAR is a joke. Why not let the field decide the winner every now and again. Tony Stewart was right, but I can understand his retraction....it does pay well. I won't waste my time looking at the Jeff Gordon/Jimmie Johnson show again. I am just as tired of hearing Darryl Waltrip blabber on about Toyota. It has gotten boring and tiring. Even worse is Busch Series that can't even generate a full field of racing. Wasn't that the same thing that happened to open wheel racing before they got flushed?

Ok boys and girls(cause you don't act like adults)The throwing of beer cans on the field is so childish and dis-respectful for any of the drivers. Records were meant to be broken, so grow up !!!Jeff Gordon said he learned a lot from the Late Great Earnhardt reference restrictor plate racing....Even Jr. pleaded with the fans to act like adults...

You left out several other rolls. Rusty Wallace had a humonous roll and tumble at Talledaga in his old Genuine Draft T-Bird. H roll 9 or ten time leaving only his cage intack,no wheels, ear end, nothing.
The late Neil Bonnett rolled big time at Daytona.

I think Tony Stewart hit the nail on the head, it's being fixed more than anything anymore, I love to watch racing, but not any in the least impressed with Gordon and his ego trips, and Jimmie, I once was very impressed with his intuitiveness and his intelligence, he actually once cared about the sport and fans more than his ego, but if he continues down the same road as Gordon, that won't last for long,Kasey Khane is my man, and Ryan Newman is my son's and Earnhardt Jr...is my daughter's favorite...see we are a family of flexibility and none of us would want to see anyone hurt, my husband likes Tony because he's not afraid to tell it like it is, and well, my husband is exactly the same way, Keepin it real... for all I'm concerned, Gordon can retire...Jimmy can deflate the ego trip and get back to reality, Tony can just keep on keepin on...Ryan, pick your rear up and let's see some more action out of you, and well, Kasey, I know it's rough, but fella, you'll bounce back, I have faith in you, always will!! Let's bring racing back where it should be...on the track....
Peace out to Elliot, Jeff Burton, and Denny, my Virginia boys!!

I feel Tony Stewart was right about the cautions, and how many of them are driver created? I remember seeing Robby Gordon toss something from his car. However, I AM a Jeff Gordon fan, followed by Jimmy Johnson, and I think these two are on top of their game! I thought Jeff was a true leader of the sport to honor Dale, Sr., when he used Dale's flag rather then the checkered when he tied him, and for Dale, Jr. to show his support. These guys are the REAL deal!!!

One of the worst that was left out was Michael Waltrip in a Busch race at Bristol in 1991 or 1992. He hit the outside wall head on where the opening for the gate was. Car came to a dead stop and the car disintegrated. Michael's feet were actually on the track as he sat in the seat. Of course he ran in the Cup race the very next day!

Technology. Wonder about rate of developments in racing automobile technologies. For example, if rate of engine developement technology exceeds air dynamic technology developments, given a given tire technology, are the 'umpires' really able to keep the sport safe? ..... Are these 'umpires' required to provide their written opinions, periodically? Should such be required, or is that a 'given' in this sport?

Isn't it amazing that these wrecks were so much more devastating than the one that took the life of Dale, Sr.? Just goes to show you, when God wants you, He takes you.

I gotta say a few things.. #1, I've been saying Kyle would get his Baptismn by Fire soon.. Ya can't drive like an idiot ALL the time ( only part of the time and ya gotta be REAL good, Real Good.) These Crashes, look so horrid, BUT.. some part of each crash in this setting with all the devices get's goose bumps and adrenaline and says "Hell Yeah ! Rock N' Roll" ... Ok, So I get pumped a little.. If ya knew or thought greatly that you could survive in good shape to come back next week, wouldn't it be a wild ride.. I mean, Tony my man is just bada** as a driver, but when ya see your guy roll, get out and wish they were still in the race just to get to the win, that's adrenaline and kick ass adrenaline.. I dunno.. maybe I get too fired up, but I ALWAYS worry, too much too.. I sit there on the verge of freakin to know they are ok.. I guess what I'm sayin' is, now that's wha I call "Tough"... and in other senses, we all deal with tough everyday.. which brings me to this.. anyone who saw the race a few weeks back in Pheonix (or Vegas) saw then deny a yellow flag for Mears and R. Gordon hitting the walls seperately and small spin.. R. Gordon couldnt even get over to the side with NO CAUTION called at all through whole thing and Mears almost had to go around a lap on no tires.. still no caution.. but 5 mins later a caution was called for K. Busch scrapping the wall..?? what the heck is that ?!?!? We are not dumb out here ya know.. I have to say I agree with Tony, even if he can get out of control at times.. they need to look at these things closer.. there is a lot of money and a lot of officials that Teams like Hendricks can buy with Lots, LOTS of money... every week.. something..

Let's give thanks to 2 time Busch Grand champion RANDY La joie for the safest racing seat in NASCAR. I am sure that Kyle Busch is happy that Randy's seat kept him safe as his seat has done before for so many other drivers. Great job Randy.

I used to defend myself (and others) for being true racing fans; people who enjoyed auto racing for the thrill of the competition. We DID NOT watch the races for the crashes. We enjoyed racing to witness the skill in the drivers and to admire the design of the cars and to hear the sounds of the different engines ( an Offy had a scream, a Ford a gutsy rumble, an F1 Ferrari puts out a sweet note that can't be duplicated). I watched Talledaga this last weekend. I am convinced that fans watch stock races for the wrecks. They even wait for "the big one" and CHEER when it happens!! The cars all look and sound the same and with the new NASCAR rules, I understand they soon WILL BE the same. My god what a waste of time.

I also have to say that Michael Waltrips wreck at Bristol was the most terrifing I've ever seen. I seem to even remember DW stopping under caution and getting out of his car to see if Michael was alright. And there was also Steve Grissoms wreck of the Flintstone ( I think ) car. Flipping and rolling looks spectacular. However it's the sudden stopping of hitting the end of a wall that does the damage.

Respect is lacking in today's society not only in the sports world but the real world. Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Dale Earnhardt Jr all have respect for each other and to see them interact at the track one would also think they like each other. It is the fans that are too ignorant to see this. And, who in their right mind would throw a full can of beer away. I'll tell you who would, a person who does not like beer. Throwing full cans of beer away is showing not only their disrespect for the drivers but their disrespect for beer. :)
